Elegant Fall Centerpiece

A few years ago I made this beautiful Fall centerpiece based on a post by Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick.  This project does require some basic woodcutting skills, but trust me…if I can do it, anyone can.  For this project you will need:

  • Cheap door mirror – you can get these at Walmart really cheap.  I found this one at a thrift store for $2
  • Liquid Nails Adhesive
  • Picture Frame molding
  • Fall Garland
  • Gauzy Fabric
  • Candleholders  – Various sizes
  • Plywood

Begin by taking the plastic frame off the mirror.  This is actually the hardest part.  These mirrors are very thin and easy to break and sometimes the frames don’t want to come off so easy.  Just be patient and careful.  I was lucky that the frame was already falling off the mirror I picked up at the thrift store.

Cut a piece of plywood the same size as the mirror and use the Liquid Nails to adhere it.  It’s a good idea to turn the mirror face down so that the weight of the plywood holds everything together.  Let this dry before moving on to the next step.

Cut your picture frame molding to go around the edges of the mirror and attach that with the Liquid Nails as well.  Once that is secure, adhere molding to the edges to hide the plywood.

Cut the fabric to go around your candleholders.  You can close the seam with a drop of hot glue or double sided tape.  Place the candles on the mirror and arrange them the way you want.  Add candles and weave around some Fall garland and…voila!  You have a gorgeous, elegant Fall centerpiece.

I couldn’t get a good picture, but at night it really is magical.

Such a lovely idea and I bet it does look beautiful at night with the candle light reflecting off of the mirror.

Thanks Michelle. It does look beautiful. I’d like to have enough flameless lights for each of the holders.

What a pretty fall centerpiece! I made a much smaller version of this using a thrift store mirror, too. Yours is stunning. Thank you for sharing at Snickerdoodle. Pinning to my fall decor board.
