How to Decorate with Old Windows
I picked up some old windows at a yard sale last summer for $5 and have had them stored in my shed since then. I had forgotten all about them until I cleaned out the shed and realized that I had a ton of “project supplies” that really needed to be used. (That’s what I call all those things I don’t know what to do with, but just know I will use eventually).
This window was in great shape and was already a chippy white finish so I didn’t even have to paint. I hung it above a small entry table but it needed something. The search began…
I found a wooden “S” that I picked up in the $1 aisle at Michaels and a round antique frame.
My original idea was to remove the glass from the picture frame and just put the S on the wall and the frame around it. But as I was playing around with the pieces, I realized it looked great on top of the glass. Isn’t that how a lot of great ideas happen? Just playin’ around and – WOW!
I hot glued the S on the middle of the picture frame and used twine to hang it form the top of the window frame. I used a small command hook on top of the frame to hold the twine so I didn’t have to screw anything into the wooden frame.
I’m already thinking of ways to change it up for the seasons or just on a whim. You could hang a small boxwood wreath or an old family photo would look great. My husband and I are also cooking up a cute idea for how to use it at Christmas so stay tuned.
